Year 1 WC 5th November 2018

Date: 11th Nov 2018 @ 9:38pm

Our first week back has been very busy in Year 1.

On Monday, as it was Bonfire night, we learnt all about Guy Fawks and what's so important about 5th November. They then did some super artwork of bonfires and added words to describe what they might see and hear.

Leading up to our Remembrance service, we have been learning a little about World War I. In English, we acted out the story of The Christmas Truce when the soldiers stopped fighting for one day, Christmas Day. The British and the German soldiers talked and shared rations before having a game of football. This led to some brilliant writing as we described the setting and then did some diary writing as though we were one of the soldiers in the trenches.

This week you should have received your child's costume letter for our nativity, Straw and Order, which we do with Year 2. Next week we will start to practise the songs. If your child has a line, please help them to learn it as we will soon start rehearsing the script.

Tomorrow is our trip to Nantwich Museum. Children need to arrive in school at normal time in their school uniform. If they are bringing a packed lunch from home, it needs to be in a disposable named bag. We shall return to school by the end of the school day.
