Year 1 WC 4th March 2019

Date: 8th Mar 2019 @ 4:07pm

We had a great start to our week with our trip to Delamere. We had a absolutely brilliant day and thankfully the weather stayed dry for most of the day. Our trip led us to writing some great recounts. The children remembered lots of facts that they learnt from our ranger, Nicole, understanding the different kinds of trees and what they need to grow.

The children all looked fantastic on Tuesday for World Book Day. In our assembly, we read The Day the Crayons quit. When we got back to our classroom, we found that our rubbers, fed up with being mistreated, had quit too! So of course, we all wrote some very persuasive letters to them, promising to treat them much better. Luckily, they returned the following day.

In maths we have been ordering and comparing numbers to 50. In order to say which number is bigger/smaller, we are encouraging them to understand the value of the digits and being able to explain this.

In RE we role-played the Easter story. Then we looked at Good Friday traditions which included trying some delicious hot cross buns. We then discussed the significance of the cross and why it is important to Christians.
