Year 1 class blog w/b 6.11.17

Date: 10th Nov 2017 @ 7:27pm

We have had a wonderful week in year 1! This week in phonics we have focussed on the ph sounds. Many thanks for your help with spellings and reading at home. Well done to our super speller Ollie.

I hope you enjoyed the Remembrance Service today. It is always a moving service and the children enjoyed learning the song with actions, which was all about remembering those who have died, particularly those affected by war. The trip to Tatton Park on Wednesday was very exciting and we enjoyed hearing the story of Cinderella, getting in role as Cinderella and exploring the grounds and mansion at Tatton Park. Dancing in the ballroom was a particular highlight.

We continued to look at place value in maths, focusing on one more and one less, problem solving and teen numbers. In English we learned the story of Cinderella and completed some short burst writing based on the text.

In RE our focus has been on how Christians worship God. On Tuesday the children practised key skills with Mr Jones and made poppies and practised for our Remembrance song.

In science this week we focused on how to stay healthy.
