Year 1 class blog w/b 25.9.17

Date: 1st Oct 2017 @ 1:21pm

We have had a lovely week in year 1! This week in phonics we have focussed on the o-e, ow and oa sounds. Thank you for your help with spellings and reading at home.

We started to focus on addition and subtraction in maths, looking at number bonds and writing and solving addition and subtraction number sentences. In English we planned out and invented our own stories!

In RE our focus has been on good news and we looked at the parable where Jesus talks about building a house on rock or on sand; we thought building our lives on strong Christian values, which would help us to have a strong foundation in life. On Tuesday the children practised key skills with Mr Jones and used pastels on their self-portraits with Mrs Taylor.

On Wednesday we started to learn the story of the Little Red Hen and acted it out. In topic we looked at how houses have changed over time. We also monitored and observed our broad bean plants which have started to sprout.
