Year 1 class blog w/b 13.11.17

Date: 19th Nov 2017 @ 10:28am

We have had a lovely week in year 1! This week in phonics we have focussed on the ie, igh and i-e sounds. Many thanks for your help with spellings and reading at home. Well done to our super speller Amelia.

We continued to look at place value in maths, focusing on tens and units, sequencing and problem solving. In English we innovated the story of Cinderella and then made our own version of the story with new characters and problems.

In RE our focus has been on the Bible. On Tuesday the children practised key skills with Mr Jones and made poppies and enjoyed a music lesson with Mrs Taylor.

In science this week we focused on how to stay healthy, focusing on having a balanced diet. In topic we compared homes over time and made a timeline.

On Friday we had our first run through of our Nativity. Letters have been sent home with suggestions for costumes. The performances will be on Tuesday 12th and Wednesday 13th December. Please let me know if you have any questions or queries.
