Year 1 class blog w/b 11.9.17

We have had a super week in year 1! This week in phonics we have focussed on the ai, a-e and ay sounds. Many thanks for your help with spellings (and reading) at home.

We continued to look at place value in maths, focusing on one more and one less. In English we had a strange visit on Wednesday from some fairy tale characters! We found long, blonde hair, a sword and shield and a witch’s hat in our castle role play area and wondered who had visited! We discovered that Rapunzel had been into our classroom! We learned the story map with actions and wrote a letter to the witch pleading to let Rapunzel go! We also looked at character descriptions.
