Year 1 - Week 2 and homework

Date: 16th Jan 2016 @ 9:48am

Another great week for everybody in Year 1!

In English we have been learning all about polar bears by learning a report and reading and listening to non-fiction books and fact files.  On Friday we started to plan our own report on penguins!  We found out lots of facts to use next week.

Your English homework this week is to try and remember 3 amazing facts to tell your family - can you use our super sentence starters like 'Interestingly...', 'Amazingly...', 'Did you know...'Surprisingly...', 'Although...', 'Most...'?

In Maths we have been continuing our work on place value, investigating numbers, odd and even and number bonds.  I'm sure you will be impressed to find out we were using our place value knowledge to add numbers into the thousands!

20+4 = ?      120+4=?    1020+4=?

In Science this week we have been investigating the melting process which first involved lots of close observation of ice.  We then investigated how a change in location could affect the melting process and recorded our results.

In Religion this week we have been learning the story of Zacchaeus and Jesus and thinking about our topic for this term 'courage'.  We thought of all the different times we can be brave and have courage to try something new or do the right thing.

Have a good weekend!
