Week beginning 7th November

Date: 6th Nov 2016 @ 10:53am

Welcome back,

I hope you all had a lovely half term and are raring to get back to school.

This half term we will be continuing with our topic of the Tudors by baking Tudor dishes and making our own Tudor houses. We will also be learning about Shakespeare, medicine, crime and punishment from the era.

Maths this half term focusses on multiplication and division, however our regular time checks will continue throughout the day.

We start the half term by learning about poetry in English, this will see the children attempting their own poetry of different varieties.

This week, year 4 have the pleasure of leading our school remembrance service and we will begin to devise this on Monday. As well as leading the service, we will be performing Flanders fields and I have attached a copy below for children to look at.

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday and see you all tomorrow.

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.
