Week beginning 30.1.17

Date: 5th Feb 2017 @ 12:34pm

We have has a very exciting week in year 2 learning about natural disasters! If you haven't done so already, please have a look at the pictures and video from this week, where we witnessed the devastation of an earthquake in our classroom and practised an earthquake drill.

Well done to our star speller Rory. This week we have been looking at suffixes, which can be found at the end of words. Thank you again for your help with spellings.

In English we wrote down some questions having witnessed the devastation of the earthquake, practised earthquake drills and wrote instructions for what to do in the event of an earthquake, and wrote a diary entry using short, snappy sentences to create suspense. Thank you for your support with homework. We will be using all the facts next week in English.

In maths this week we were learning all about 2D and 3D shapes, as well as lines of symmetry.

In RE we thought about what the kingdom of God on Earth would look like, while in PE year 2 played hockey. In topic and science we were learning all about volcanoes and we had a science experiment whereby we made a volcanic explosion.

If you have any questions or concerns, please get in touch.
