Week beginning 23.1.17

Date: 29th Jan 2017 @ 7:37pm

We have had another super week in year 2. Well done to our star spellers Harvey and Stan! This week in phonics we have been looking at possessive apostrophes, following on from our work in the previous week on contractions. It is great to see lots of children applying these rules in their English work.

In English we have been inventing a fairytale story. Last week we innovated a story, where we changed the main character, baddy and a few different elements. However, this week we completely invented a story. There have been some wonderful ideas, terrifying baddies and heroic heroes!

In maths we have been working on some tricky problem solving and reasoning which all related to money.

In RE we looked at things that we might find in the kingdom of God, such as love, hope, kindness and joy, as well as things that we wouldn't find in it. In Science we had an exciting lesson learning about ice melting and the children had lots of fun feeling and watching the rubber glove ice hands melt! This week the children have also been working on hockey in PE, had a music lesson with Mrs Taylor and been learning all about the different types of farms in our topic lesson.

Thank you for your support with spellings and homework. If you have any issues or queries please get in touch.
