Week beginning 22nd May

Date: 26th May 2017 @ 3:48pm

What a fantastic week we have had in Year 1 before half term! We started the week making fruit skewers in Maths to develop our understanding of sharing and dividing. We discovered how to share and divide pieces of fruit equally and as a treat we added a marshmallow on top.  By the end of the week, we were problem solving and showing reasoning in our work for our answers.

I was extremely impressed with the Literacy homework that the children produced after researching a type of bear. Thank you for your support with this. We all learnt interesting and fascinating facts about different types of bears. This led to writing our non-chronological report and writing the information about a bear’s habitat, diet, appearance and an interesting fact. The children thoroughly enjoyed writing their reports for their publishing peg and they took great care to ensure they used capital letters, full stops and neat handwriting. They are very proud of their work and you will be too.

In Science, we have been identifying which animals are herbivores, carnivores or omnivores. We explored this further and found out exactly what different types of food certain animals eat.

We have learnt many facts about the Torah in RE and wrote about them in our own words. We have now finished making our Torah’s and these will be displayed on our classroom wall.

I hope you all have a relaxing half term and an enjoyable week.
