Week Beginning: 19th September

Date: 17th Sep 2016 @ 9:31pm

It has been another fantastic week in Year 5. The children have been working hard recognising 5,6 and some 7 digit numbers. We have been rounding, using our place value knowledge to add and subtract and investigating negative numbers.

In English the children have been writing the Lost Thing's diary. We have been remembering the features we need to include and working on our paragraphs, spelling, vocabulary and punctuation.

On Wednesday we were lucky enough to have the first of our Bible Explorer sessions with Beth Cosgrove. All the children loved getting involved with putting actions to bible stories. I hope they have given you a demonstration at home.

On Monday, children took part in an exciting science lesson (The Great Stink) where they researched Victorian sewer systems and completed an experiment separating mixtures, You would be amazed by how many things they could think of which might be in a sewer!

We looked at pictures of Queen Victoria and her family and found that she had nine children.

Next week we will continue to work on our writing and addition in maths. We also have our next Bible Explorer session to look forward to and will be computer programming on Friday.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend. I look forward to seeing you next week.
