Week beginning 10.9

Good evening all,

Last week in year four we started our English writing topic based around fairy tales. We are using Weslandia as an inspirational text and during our hook lesson we found a strange new world had been discovered in the school grounds. Inside, we found a new kind of fruit, which some of our intrepid explorers were brave enough to taste, we found new material that was used for blankets and clothing and we found a type of hammer. 

In maths, we focussed on the concept of rounding to the nearest 10 and 100 before being introduced to 4-digit numbers for the first time. We explored how many hundreds we need to make a thousand and used this knowledge to count in 1000s.

Excitingly, we got to try our instruments for the first time this week as Mrs Tice came in for our first lesson. Over the coming weeks, Mrs Tice will continue to visit us, and instruments will soon be coming home with the children. 

On Friday morning, the children completed their level 1 Bikeability course. We have certificates and badges to award during our celebration assembly on Friday.
