WC 10th October 2016

Date: 9th Oct 2016 @ 9:46pm

Firstly I would like to say a big 'well done' to Year 3 for their fantastic singing in our harvest service.

This week in maths we are working on formal written methods of addition and subtraction which involves using the column method. To challenge children further this will also include being able to solve calculations with missing digits.

I'm sure the children have told you all about the story, 'The Canal', which we have been learning using a Talk4Writing approach. On Thursday, we even had two characters from the story come to visit us so the children could grill them about what they'd been up to. I have been really impressed with the effort the children have put into their writing as a result and I'm looking forward to seeing what they produce in the next stage.

The literacy homework for this week is to produce an acrostic poem using the words 'Stone Age Boy'. For each letter they must come up with a word or sentence about Stone Age boy's journey/experiences in the story.

On Friday afternoon, Key Stage 2 will be having a cross country competition within their planets. Please ensure that children have their outdoor PE kit in school that day (including joggers and a warm jumper in case it's chilly).
