W/b 30th September

Date: 5th Oct 2019 @ 8:07pm

It has been another very busy week in Y6.

We have now completed our work on the text Rose Blanche. The children produced some fantastic diaries based on the book and have worked incredibly hard to improve both the content and presentation of their work. We are now looking at writing award speeches alongside finding out about people who demonstrated incredible courage to help those being persecuted in WW2.

In maths we have been working on multiplication and division. The children are working well, but some are finding it tricky to remember their times tables. Any opportunity to practise at home will make a real difference.

We ended the week on a high with a confidence workshop. A huge thanks must go to Jo (Nathaniel’s mum) and Alison for organising and delivering the session. We looked at where confidence comes from and the impact of outside influences. Children gained an understanding of what they can do to increase their confidence and the difference between assertive and aggressive personalities. It was incredibly well received by the children (and adults) and a highlight was stamping out our worries which were written on balloons. I’m certain these skills will be useful for the year ahead with a residential, SATs and high school transition.

Finally, just a reminder that we have swimming on Wednesday afternoons until half term. Parents consultations are also coming up and our class assembly is just before half term (please check school calendar).
