Welcome Back!

Welcome back! We hope you had a wonderful half term. It was lovely to see the children and hear all about their holidays.

To launch our new Talk 4 Writing story we travelled to Tatton Park where we fortunate enough to meet the Fairy Godmother. She showed us around Prince Charming and Cinderella's beautiful home and told us all about how they met.  We had an opportunity to help the servants sweep the floors and polish the silver, so experiencing how Cinderella felt under the care of her wicked stepmother. Afterward, the children performed a beautiful waltz, before heading out into the gardens to see if they could spot any more fairy tale characters. Staff at Tatton were so impressed with the children that they sent a letter to Mrs Riley, commending the children's behaviour and attitudes. So very well done everyone! In Literacy this week we have writing some superb recounts of our trip. The children are trying really hard to sound out words by themselves and they are remembering that we need to leave spaces between words.

Our maths has linked to our Literacy this week, as we have been learning to tell the time...something Cinderella would have found useful! We have looked at the features of a clock and had lots of fun completing challenges within a set amount of time. We learnt how to tell the time using o'clock and we practised these skills by playing bingo and 'What's the time Mr Wolf?'

The children performed brilliantly at our Remembrance Service today. They learnt the song in a very short amount of time and they have enjoyed finding out about poppies. Now to start practising for Christmas!
