Reception ~ W/B 6.7.15

Date: 9th Jul 2015 @ 9:10pm

This week we have been…

…having lots of fun with our new teacher Miss McCann.  Miss McCann has been continuing our work on Paddington Bear.  On Tuesday we read ‘Paddington Goes for Gold’.  We then compiled a list of different races before going outside and trying some out.  In the afternoons we made some wonderful medals.

On Wednesday we read ‘Paddington Goes to the Zoo.’  We demonstrated great imagination when writing thought bubbles to go with the pictures.  After break we showed of our maths skills by ordering ordinal numbers.

‘Paddington Goes to the Tower’ was our chosen focus on Thursday.  We made some (surprisingly!) delicious marmalade sandwiches before demonstrating our amazing writing skills by writing some super instructions.  As Year 1 have also been learning about the Tower of London, they joined us for the afternoon to share their knowledge.  We had great fun creating models and paintings!  Thank you Year 1 for a lovely afternoon!

This week we also released our butterflies.  Surprisingly, the butterflies seemed reluctant to leave our care! (Maybe it was the wet weather!)  We shared a special prayer before we released them and we hope they are still safe and well.  To support our work we also looked at the story ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ and we used non-fiction books to find out more about the life cycle of a butterfly.

The end of another busy week and only one more full week remaining!  Where has the time gone!
