Our First Half Term is Complete!

I can’t believe the half term holiday has fallen upon us already.  The term really has flown by!  The children have managed the changes brilliant and worked very hard; they definitely deserve a rest!

In Literacy this week we have been continuing to learn to tell the story of Jack and the Beanstalk.  We also read the story ‘Jim and the Beanstalk.’  When we entered the classroom after Tuesday play time we were very surprised to find a large pair of broken glass and a giant (and rather dirty!) set of teeth, along with a gold coin and note from the Giant.  We worked together to fix the Giant’s glasses and we made our own toothpaste to clean his teeth.  We then wrote letters back to him, offering him advice.  Hopefully, he is following our instructions carefully and we won’t have to help him again!

In Maths we have been looking at 1 more and 1 less.  We have compared two sets of objects and identified which has the most.  We also used candles in birthday cakes to help us work out 1 more or 1 less than a given number.  The objective also allowed us to have lots of fun exploring rhymes such as 5 Fat Sausages and 5 Current Buns.

A big thank you to Mrs Smith for the lovely cakes and to Mr and Mrs Marsh for the birthday sweets.  We have been very spoilt this week!

Thank you to all of those parents who attended Parent Consultations.  We hope you found them useful and it was great to spend time with you.  Thank you for the lovely comments.  It has been a wonderful half term and you should all be very proud.

As I explained during the appointments we now have online profiles and you should now have received an email with a link to your child’s Learning Journal (I am still missing two emails so I will grab you after the holidays!).  If you haven’t please let me know and I will look to resolve the situation as quick as I can.
