A Terrific Trip!

What a fantastic week we have had in Reception.  The highlight of our week has to be our trip to Trentham Gardens on Wednesday.  They children had great fun building dens for their teddy bears.  They even added slides, swings, swimming pools and fire pits!  After a long walk, we enjoyed spot of lunch before setting off on the Barefoot Walk.  The children were very brave and tried all of the different sensory areas.  Though I think their favourite part was towards the end when they were sprayed with water; it was a lovely opportunity to cool down!  Before heading home we had a quick play on the park, after which we stopped off at Noah’s Ark to make our new class bear…Trent!  He will travel with us into Year 1.  Throughout the day the children were polite and engaged: they really were a joy to take.  Well done everyone!
Trentham was our second trip of the week.  On Monday, we walked up to St Oswald’s church.  Robin met us and told us all about the church and pointed out the key features.  We also spotted some armour that belonged to Sir William Brereton, as well as two bears.  Do you know where they are hiding?  Thank you to Robin for taking the time to meet us.
In Maths, this week we have been completing some assessments, as well as learning about 2D and 3D shapes.  Why not try to spot shapes when out and about?
In Literacy, we have been looking at how to describe our new story settings.  Their stories are going to be fantastic!  We have also been putting sound effects to the story of ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt.’   We used everyday objects, such as bottles and brushes to recreate the sounds.
On Friday, we began our final RE topic, Creation.  We explored natural and man-made materials and we made pictures out of natural materials.
Apologies but Father’s Day cards were not sent home on Friday evening.  For those of you who I couldn’t track down, I will be at school Saturday morning from 10am for Preschools sports day should you wish to collect it.
Don’t forget next Friday is our class assembly!  Please arrive at school by 2:55pm.  We hope you can make it!
