Reception Blog - Week beginning Monday 11th March 2019

Date: 14th Mar 2019 @ 4:34pm

We have had a very busy week and all of the children have worked incredibly hard. They should be very proud of themselves!

In Maths we have been looking at subtraction. We started by playing a game where the children have to collect money by taking it away from someone else. Play dough activities, golden coin swaps and counters then helped us complete the rest of our work throughout the week. The children are now confident at reading a number sentence, drawing counters and then deleting them to find the answer.

In Literacy we have been making some changes to our story ‘Lost and Found’ in order to make up our own story. We have been writing these, ensuring our phonics sounds and finger spaces are correct. We look forward to continuing them next week.

In topic we have been doing lots of work on floating and sinking. The children have been making predictions, testing materials and then designing their own boat. We very much look forward to making these in the upcoming weeks.

Next week we have our parent’s consultations. If you have any queries about timings or appointments please do come in and see us before Wednesday.  We look forward to welcoming as many of you as possible as we cannot wait to share with you some of the work they have been doing in class since October.

Have a lovely weekend!
