First Week Back - Welcome Miss Moulton

Welcome back to a new school year. It has been a lovely start to teaching Year 5 and I am really enjoying getting to know the children. 

We also welcome Miss Moulton to Brereton. She is our Schools Direct teaching student this year and will be working closely alongside me in Year 5. She has a wealth of experience and expertise and we are both looking forward to working with the children throughout the year, 

Next week we will begin our writing unit linked to the book 'The Lost Thing' by Shaun Tann. In maths, we will continue our work on place value of 6 digit numbers. Children will also be bringing home spellings to learn tomorrow and will spend the week completing activities linked to these. 

Unfortunately, we have been let down by our book supplier and are still waiting for homework books to arrive, As a result formal homework will begin next week, but children will be given a variety of learning tasks they can complete at home. I have already been given some amazing work based on the Victorians, children can continue to research the period to support topic work. Any work completed on rounding numbers to the nearest 100, 1000 and 10 000 will also support their progress in school.
