All things Roman

Date: 2nd Mar 2019 @ 3:58pm

Hello everyone!

As I write this the weather appears considerably more 'late winter' than earlier this week and I am keeping everything crossed that the forecast for sunshine on Tuesday remains accurate. As you know we are heading off to Chester for the day to visit the Dewa Roman Experience tour which I hope all the children are looking forward to. We have been learning about different aspects of Roman life for a number of weeks now and earlier this week we started looking at why the Romans invaded Britain, and what they brought to the country once it became part of the Roman Empire. Hopefully, during the day in Chester the class will be able to see for themselves how structures built during the first centuries after the birth of Christ continue to form part of a modern city.

This week we have also began a new Talk for Writing module looking at persuasive writing. We have seen how both film trailers and food advertisements use a variety of techniques in persuading us to visit the movies or fill our shopping baskets. Already I have seen some great short burst pieces of writing persuading me to eat more Skittles, strawberry cake and McDonalds. Bang goes that resolution...

Next week I'll post some pictures of our Chester trip so please take a look when you get chance!

Enjoy your weekend!
