A little update

Hi there,

Just to let you know the children will be taking turns to take our class alien home for the weekend at some point during the year.  Please just ensure your child has tried to record any activities in the book, which they may have completed with the alien over the weekend.  Feel free to enclose any photos but there is no real expectation to do this.

We will also try to put the initials 'GR' in your child's reading log each week so you know when your child has read during Guided Reading.

Finally, the idea behind the children's spelling homework is to encourage the children to 'have a go' at recognising and recording key words with their allocated adult.  It is going to be after Christmas (at the earliest) when spelling scores will be recorded and shared with you in reading logs.  Even though other year groups are currently introducing 'My Maths,' I feel that Year 1 need to continue with the weekly spellings for now.
